Variety Awards $1M Grant to Ember Recovery Campus

YSS has received a $1 million grant from Variety – the Children’s Charity to fund Ember Recovery Campus.

Headquartered in Ames with locations across the state, YSS is a nonprofit organization that empowers youth by providing education to build healthy minds and bodies; counseling to overcome life’s challenges; and stability to focus on the future.

The Variety grant will go toward Ember, YSS’s new recovery campus currently under construction near Cambridge, Iowa. Located on 50 acres of prairie and timber, Ember will offer residential addiction treatment, crisis stabilization, and emergency shelter for youth and young adults.

YSS broke ground on the campus in August and plans to open in 2024.

“We are grateful for the funding from Variety to support Ember, which will provide hope and opportunity for thousands of families across Iowa,” said Andrew Allen, President and CEO of YSS.

Variety – the Children’s Charity is dedicated to improving the lives of children who are underprivileged, at-risk, critically ill, or living with special needs. Grant funding is provided to programs and initiatives that directly impact the well-being of children in our community.
