Meet the Team: Sarah Zollar
Sarah Zollar is the Clinical Supervisor for Ember Recovery, and has worked at YSS for 7 years. The thing that drew Sarah into working at YSS was the emphasis on putting kids first. Sarah’s responsibilities as a Clinical Supervisor include managing the clinical team, which consists of the youth recovery advocates, residential counselors, and therapists, as well as any master’s level interns within the program.
Sarah also provides MDFT (Multi-Dimensional Family Therapy) supervision for the therapists who have had MDFT training and is a part of the admissions team at Ember Recovery. She reviews records as needed to determine if Ember Recovery residential treatment program is the correct level of care for clients.
“I am fortunate work with a great team, both on the clinical side and milieu side of our program. They all have the heart to do the work, and are wanting to do what is best to provide hope and opportunity for the kids that we serve.”
Sarah grew up in a suburb around Kansas City. She attended Olathe South High School and participated in the marching band. After high school, Sarah attended Pittsburg State University and received her bachelor’s degree in psychology. Sarah and her husband moved to Iowa shortly after graduating from college. From there, she attended the University of Northern Iowa to receive her master’s in mental health counseling.
“I love when the families we work with in residential talk about feeling like they have their kid back. There is also a shift that happens when you can see a light come back in a kid’s eyes after they have not been using for a little while and that is amazing to see.”
In her free time, Sarah enjoys spending time with her husband and attending the activities of their two teenage boys to cheer them on. Thank you for all your hard work at Ember Recovery, Sarah!
