Impact

Ballard • Collins-Maxwell

Housed in two school districts, Teen Club (or Impact as it's known in the schools) is a fun and engaging afterschool program offered to youth in middle school (6th grade-8th grade).  The program is free and everyone is welcome.

Impact is FUN!  Youth enjoy a wide array of group games, science experiments, cooking projects, crafts, field trips and more!

Curriculum

The Wyman Teen Outreach Program (TOP) focuses on positive youth development and empowers teens with the skills they need to make healthy choices and develop into thriving adults.

TOP is a community service learning curriculum involving lessons addressing volunteerism, community development, relationships, friendships, peer pressure, and self-esteem/confidence.  The youth choose the lesson they want to learn about and the facilitator helps guide the youth through the lesson plan.  In addition to lesson plans, the youth engage in community service projects, which are also chosen by the youth themselves.

The curriculum empowers teens to take an active role in what they learn and do with their time.

How to Participate

The program runs Monday-Thursday from school dismissal to 5:00pm.  Hours of operation are:

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday: 3:00pm-5:00pm

Wednesday: 1:30pm-5:00pm

The program only runs when school is in session.  For example, we are closed on holidays, spring break, and any other day school may be closed or cancelled.

Parents need to fill out a registration packet for a child to participate.  The packets are available at Back to School nights or at the school's main office.

Youth are invited to participate afterschool before registering to see if this is something they would enjoy.

Ballard Engineers

The Ballard Impact group started an Engineering Club that is held every Thursday afternoon.  ISU students currently enrolled in the engineering and robotics club come facilitate engineering projects.  The kids love it!
