A Summer to Remember

The summer enrichment program is a free six week program offered to children in Ames, Nevada and Collins-Maxwell to support them during the summer months.  The program focuses on activities that are both fun and educational.  It's an excellent opportunity to keep youth engaged over the summer while also providing breakfast and/or lunch.

  • Provide children with a nutritious meal at least once a day
  • Help prevent summer learning loss
  • Engage children in a fun and enriching environment
  • Support school attendance

The summer curriculum is based on the library's theme.  Volunteers present on a topic that is relevant to the theme or they create something unique that the students will find fun and interesting.

There are four different areas of play and education: literacy, STEM, PE, and the summer theme.

Hours of Operation

Ames: 11:30am-2:15pm, Monday-Thursday (lunch is provided)

Nevada: 8:15am-12:15pm, Monday-Thursday (both breakfast and lunch are provided)

Collins-Maxwell: 8:15am-12:15pm, Monday-Thursday (both breakfast and lunch are provided)

The Ames program serves children in kindergarten through 4th grade, but is not open to anyone.  The school district selects participants based on test scores. The program starts at the conclusion of morning summer school.  Please contact your local school administrator for information about your child's eligibility and to register.

The Nevada and Collins-Maxwell programs are open to all youth in kindergarten through 8th grade and everyone is welcome.  Registration packets can be picked up at the school.
