Meet the Team: Melissa Gravlin
Melissa Gravlin has been the Residential Admissions Coordinator at Ember Recovery for four years. Melissa acts as the communication piece in the admissions process.
Her responsibilities range from speaking with referral sources to serving as the main point of contact for parents and families who place their children with Ember Recovery.
Born in Boston, Melissa’s family moved to Iowa when she was two. She attended the University of Northern Iowa, double majoring in Spanish and TESOL. After college, Melissa moved to Guatemala to teach English to kids experiencing homelessness. In 2019, she moved back to Iowa and found Ember Recovery through a family member.
“I just love that stage of life where youth are on the brink of choosing their paths, and we have the opportunity to nurture, guide, and support them. We can build up resources to create sustainable, realistic opportunities for them,” says Melissa.
Outside of work, Melissa enjoys spending time with her family and attending bible studies. She also leads a group of high school girls through her church. Thank you for all your hard work at Ember Recovery, Melissa!
