YSS Launches New LGBTQ+ Therapy Group
YSS is introducing AFFIRM, a new affirmative therapy group for LGBTQ+ youth. Beginning in April, the group will give teenagers the tools to make healthy choices for their mental and sexual health.
The goal of the group is to help participants connect, cope, and thrive. The AFFIRM approach integrates identity affirmation with cognitive-behavioral therapy to improve well-being.
AFFIRM attendees will meet virtually every Thursday from 4-5:30 p.m., starting April 7. The group is open to teenagers ages 14-18 who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, pansexual, two-spirit, transgender, non-binary, queer, and/or are questioning their gender or sexual orientation.
Led by skilled YSS professionals, AFFIRM will help youth manage stress, enhance coping skills, and validate their strengths. The group also provides an opportunity for participants to build a community with other LGBTQ+ youth across the state.
Most insurance is accepted, and private pay options are available.
