“I enjoyed working to make a difference in the lives of youth and families in North Iowa each and every day. I truly feel that my work made a difference and I'm leaving this position knowing that I helped people.” – YSS Employee

Francis Lauer’s Residential Addiction Treatment provides a successful, individualized, and evidence-based recovery program for youth (ages 12-18) in a safe, homelike atmosphere. We understand substance abuse affects more than just the addict; our comprehensive approach incorporates support for the youth’s family and others in their support network.

The role:

As a Youth Recovery Specialist, you will supervise and care for recovering youth on a rotating on-duty, off-duty basis; while providing an atmosphere of mutual respect and trust. You will facilitate skill-building groups, support clients in completing treatment goals, assist with daily living routines and the general management of the house so that each resident can grow and develop as an individual to their fullest capacity. The position is one of supervision, engagement through skill-building sessions, and maintenance rather than therapy.

The Youth Recovery Specialist may have a “floating” schedule or a “regular” schedule.  A “floating” Youth Recovery Specialist may be scheduled at either facility on an as-needed basis and hours may change or be added with little warning.  A “regular” Youth Recovery Specialist will have a regular schedule at one of our facilities.  This schedule may change as staff changes and as on-call needs dictate.
