YSS's Residential Addiction Treatment provides a successful, individualized, and evidence-based recovery program for youth (ages 12-18) in a safe, homelike atmosphere. We understand substance abuse affects more than just the addict; our comprehensive approach incorporates support for the youth’s family and others in their support network.

The role:

As a Youth Recovery Specialist, you will care for youth while providing an atmosphere of mutual respect and trust. You will assist with their daily living routines and the general management of the house so that each resident can grow and develop as an individual. This position is one of supervision, engagement through skill-building sessions, and maintenance rather than therapy.

The Youth Recovery Specialist may have a “floating” schedule or a “regular” schedule.  A “floating” Youth Recovery Specialist may be scheduled at either facility on an as-needed basis and hours may change or be added with little warning.  A “regular” Youth Recovery Specialist will have a regular schedule at one of our facilities.  This schedule may change as staff changes and as on-call needs dictate.

What you will need:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One (1) year of human services-related experience.
  • At least 21 years old with a valid driver's license to meet requirements to drive agency vehicles.
  • Flexibility to serve on the on-call rotation and cover shifts, as needed.
  • Recovering applicants must have a minimum of two years of continuous sobriety to be considered for this position.
What you will do:
  • Relate to residents in a caring, supportive, and therapeutic manner dealing respectively with their thoughts, feelings, and choices.
  • Provide the necessary amount of structure to facilitate the growth and productive functioning of the facility.
  • Provide for the daily maintenance of the house and assures that safe living conditions are provided in compliance with fire, safety, and health regulations.
  • Supervise volunteers and substitute staff while on duty.
  • Oversee nightly schedule for residents, including rooms in order and lights out, and maintain building security. Inspect the house to see that it is clean and orderly.
  • Transport residents to meetings, work, doctor’s appointments, recreational activities, etc.
  • Be on a rotating "on-call" for runaway reports and crises.
  • Other duties as needed.
