YSS’ Residential Addiction Treatment facilities houses boys and girls between the ages of 12 – 18. The program focuses on treatment for addiction and mental health, and generally lasts 90 – 120 days.

The Residential Addiction Treatment Intern is responsible for assisting YSS to help advance the mission and program by:

  • Supervising clients
  • Participating with clients during recreation activities
  • Spending one on one time with clients at risk of running away
  • Spending one on one time with a client as a reward for good behavior
  • Being a positive role model for the entire house
  • Reporting observations to staff at the end of each shift
  • Office and organization duties
  • Participating in our educational group discussions such as; drug free education, conflict resolution, and problem solving
  • Tutoring clients with their school work

  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently.
  • Interest in adolescent addiction treatment programs and YSS’ mission.
  • All majors are accepted. The following majors are preferred: Criminal Justice, Human Services, and related fields.
Training, Supervision, and Benefits:
  • This is an unpaid internship.
  • Must attend an orientation to cover YSS policies regarding confidentiality, drug-free work environment, and child abuse reporting
  • Invited to attend any YSS all staff trainings that are available during internship period

Time Commitment/Requirements:
  • 10-20 hours per week
  • Hours between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m.
  • Must report hours weekly
