Position Description:
The Prevention Intern will:

  • Promote, implement, and maintain evidence-based and/or best practice prevention programming for both youth and adults.
  • Learn to use evaluation tools to assess effectiveness of provided programs and the intern will assist with record keeping as per the requirements of the various grants and funds.
  • Serve as a role model for the youth, work to establish youth led initiatives in Story County schools, and assist with established prevention programming in Story and Boone Counties.

  • All majors are accepted. The following majors are preferred: Human Services and related fields.

 

Training, Supervision, and Benefits:

  • This is an unpaid internship.
  • Will be under the direct supervision of the Prevention Staff
  • Participate in Prevention Services specific orientation training
  • As schedule permits attend CYFD and Prevention Staff Meetings
  • Invited to attend any YSS all staff trainings that are available during internship period
  • Must attend an orientation to cover YSS policies regarding confidentiality, drug-free work environment, and child abuse reporting.

Time Commitment/Requirements:

  • As assigned by the Prevention Supervisor
  • Work must be performed during the week
  • Must report hours to Volunteer Coordinator weekly
