YSS is seeking a full-time Residential Therapist to join our adolescent residential addiction treatment program in Ames.
The Residential Therapist provides individual, family, and group counseling to adolescents and their families through a variety of therapeutic modalities in order to alleviate identified substance use, mental health and behavioral problems.  Ongoing assessment will aid the therapist in recommending services and activities designed to support adolescents and their families. This position, along with other members of the residential team, provides coordination to assist and strengthen the adolescent’s skills to transition back into their home and community.

A Master’s degree in a licensed eligible field (MHC, MFT, MSW) and working toward full licensure in the state of Iowa is required.

Unless fully licensed, a temporary certification by the Iowa Board of Certification as a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) is required and a full CADC is required within 6 months of employment.

Knowledge and training in substance use disorders, adolescents, and families is also desirable.

Recovering applicants must have a minimum of two years of continuous sobriety to be considered for this position.
