The Kids Club Supervisor will be responsible for the day-to-day operation, planning, scheduling, and programming for before and after school services at schools within the Roland-Story School District. Program target populations range from kindergarten through sixth grade.  Summer programming for kindergarten through sixth grade programs is included along with teacher in-service days and winter and spring breaks.  The Site Supervisor is also responsible for working with the Manager and Coordinator in scheduling, supervising, and evaluating paid afterschool staff and volunteers in order to help make the experience worthwhile, safe, and educational for the volunteers, staff, and participants.
Qualifications:
  • Must meet requirements for certification in child care including a background in child development and child and family services.
  • Successful completion in CPR/First Aid and Mandatory Reporter Training is required.
  • An Associates' or Bachelor’s degree in child development, education, or related field is preferred.
Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for the day-to-day operation of before and after school programs at the designated site.
  • Performs teaching duties on a daily basis.
  • Plans and provides all-day programming for full days during the school year during in-service days and winter and spring breaks.
  • Works with the Coordinator in planning and providing summer programs for kindergarten through sixth-grade programs.
  • Plans field trips.  Arranges transportation and ensures check requests are submitted in a timely manner.
  • Ensures staff coverage and scheduling.
  • Handles day-to-day routine matters.
  • Supervises, trains, and schedules Program Assistants.
  • Directly supervises children in the Afterschool program while providing leadership to other site staff in the areas of behavior management, teaching lessons, and paperwork procedures.
  • Coordinates with community resources to provide recreational and educational activities for participants.
  • Works with coordinator and other site supervisors to develop an overall service-learning plan for each school year.  Develops and implements, with the input of staff and children, specific service-learning activities for the site.
  • Coordinates, schedules, and supervises volunteers and tutors.
  • Plans and implements the activities for regular days and full-day programs, including written lesson plans based on a monthly central theme, using a structured lesson plan format.  These activities should focus on meeting goals and objectives for each group.
  • Arrives and sets up prior to the start of the program.  Remains until all children have left and supplies are put away.
  • Maintains site-specific program and child files based on YSS policy.
  • Utilizes provided computer software to track attendance, payments, and other pertinent child and family data.
  • Greets parents with courtesy and field questions.
  • Collects and records tuition payments.  Brings payments to the YSS Jacobson Center weekly.
  • Helps prepare and serve nutritious meals and snacks. Ensures that children who want breakfast receive it.
  • Ensures that children check-in and check out of the program and that only authorized parents/guardians pick up children.
  • Completes incident reports as necessary.
  • Observes discipline policy and record participant behavior.
  • Maintains a clean facility, equipment, and supplies.
  • Provides summer programming as scheduled.
  • Administers assessments to participating children.
  • Maintains good working relationships with school personnel, janitors, secretaries, and parents.
  • Completes all necessary paperwork in a timely manner.
  • Meets with supervisor monthly for guidance and to develop a personal development plan for each group.
  • Attends program staff meetings and training.
  • Recruits children and families to participate in Kids Club.
  • Meets with staff, children, and volunteers to involve them in program planning.
  • Holds biweekly staff meetings during the summer and no less than monthly during the school year.
