The Grant Writer has responsibility for federal, state, and local grant proposal development, as well as foundation, corporate, and individual donors.  The grant writer works in close collaboration with direct service staff to develop proposals.  This person provides technical assistance to Community Based Centers to develop a strategy for grant support.  The Grant Writer works very closely with the Finance and Development Team in all these activities and to implement and update the grant schedule for the year.  This person provides grant research and prospect searches and helps to determine matches to potential funders for specific programs.

Works collaboratively to effectively oversee day-to-day grant development operations assigned and understand financial needs and requirements, as well as works closely with Programs to understand their needs and licensing requirements.  Researches funding sources with an emphasis on additional private funding sources.  Inform Grants Manager and CFO of RFP’s of interest.

The right person for this position should possess high technical capacity, maintain personal effectiveness, be thorough and detailed, and communicate effectively.

A Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, English, Communication, or a related field is required.

Must have at least two years of experience in grant writing and related fundraising activities.  Past proven experience in grant writing and proposal development is required.
