The Food Service Coordinator oversees and/or handles the food preparation, operation and maintenance of essential equipment. This person provides documentation to meet compliance with food programs, licensing requirements, and record keeping.

Responsibilities:
  • Prepares menus – breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks.
  • Prepares and serves breakfast, lunch and evening meals, as scheduled
  • Prepares additional “stored” meals to be served on weekends
  • Purchases food items as required by the menu plan
  • Ensures compliance with the National School Lunch Program, Food Bank, USDA Commodities Program and other licensing or regulatory requirements (including inventory tracking and record keeping)
  • Assures that the kitchen, all food preparation, storage utensils and equipment, and food storage areas, are clean, organized, and maintained properly
  • Understands and follows all sanitary procedures in food storage, preparation, and transportation (including cleaning of work area and monitoring of required temperatures)
  • Assures proper meal coverage is available for the house daily
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma/equivalent is required.
  • Good nutritional knowledge and basic cooking skills are required. Organizational skills and planning are essential to create menus, order food, prepare meals, and maintain kitchen space. This person will enjoy working with and teaching teens, and display patience and focus on safety.
