The Facility Maintenance Technician will be responsible for responding to approved work orders involving general repairs and maintenance of the YSS facilities, furnishings, and equipment; complete work orders and preventative maintenance work in a timely fashion. This person will assist the Facilities Manager to coordinate and supervise work performed by facilities staff and contractors. This person must balance team and individual responsibilities, be objective and open to other’s views, give and welcome feedback, contribute to positive goals and puts success of team above own self interest.

Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma/equivalent is required.
  • At least two years of carpentry, home construction, home repairs and maintenance, as well as custodial duties is required.
  • Ability to perform all aspects of maintenance and preventative maintenance ensuring all OSHA regulations are met.
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and prioritize many different projects and workload.
  • Ability to use critical thinking skills to problems solve.
  • Ability to manage resources effectively.
  •  Experience with work order systems, managing contractors and staff, HVAC, electrical and other trade experience is desired.
Responsibilities:
  • General
    • Conduct day to day maintenance operations
    • Document work order status daily within facility management system
    • Lift supplies and equipment
    • Travel and provide services to outreach operations
    • Operate phones, computers, copiers and power equipment and other misc. tools
    • Regular and reliable job attendance
  •  Supervision
    • Responsible for opening and closing office buildings as requested
    • Meet daily with Facilities Manager and staff to coordinate the days’ activities
    • Meet with contractors to collect bids for capital improvement and equipment projects
    • Review and update procedure manual (as requested by Manager)
  •  Maintenance
    • Support preventive maintenance program for all locations
    • Answer emergency calls during the evenings, weekends and holidays as assigned by Manager
    • Maintain assigned buildings and parking lots as assigned
    • Assist with seasonal readiness of all locations
    • Develop building reports in conjunction with Manager on a quarterly basis (includes collecting information from Facilities staff
  • Purchase and Inventory
    • Purchase approved materials as needed and submit charge receipts with check request form in a timely fashion
    • Inventory equipment on a quarterly basis and discard non-repairable items
    • Inform Manager of inventory numbers that are discarded or moved
    • Purchase approved supplies as required
  •  Coordination
    • Coordinate, communicate and supervise vendors/contractors/staff as assigned by Manager
    • Assist with bid-process including meeting with vendors to tour locations and provide necessary background information as needed
    • Assist with city and state inspections
