Fire at Seven-12 House

YSS experienced a fire at the Seven-12 House, our residential addictions treatment program for girls in Ames on Sunday June 24th, 2018.  The fire was contained to the back of the house, though there was significant smoke and water damage.

All staff and youth were evacuated without incident and everyone is safe. The fire alarms were triggered and the Ames Fire Department responded and extinguished the fire.

“I want to thank the quick action by YSS staff, who led the girls to safety as well as the first responders and Ames Fire Department for their immediate response. This incident reminds us all how important it is to have safety plan in place, and our staff executed it to perfection,” said YSS President and CEO Andrew Allen, an alumnus of the program.

As YSS works to rebuild and ensure continuity of programming, the community can help by providing cash donations to YSS at 420 Kellogg, Ames or clothing donations to Overflow Thrift Store at 202 S Duff Ave, Ames.

Any questions should be directed to Andrew Allen at 515-233-3141.

YSS wants to thank the entire community for their continued support of our mission.
