YSS will be offering a 12-hour OWI class that meets Department of Education and Department of Transportation requirements on Friday, May 10 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. and Saturday, May 11 from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. The class will be held at 125 South 3rd St. in Ames and is anticipated to re-occur on a monthly basis.

The course will be led by an instructor who is trained and certified under the Department of Transportation and uses the Prime for Life Curriculum.  YSS helps participants estimate their personal level of risk for developing alcohol or other drug problems, teaches specific, research-based guidelines and helps participants develop a specific action plan to avoid further problems with alcohol and other drugs.

The fee to participate in the class is $180, as established by the State of Iowa. The fee includes the required manual and electronic notification to the Iowa Department of Transportation and is non-refundable if the participant fails to attend the registered class. Pre-registration and payment of the fee is required prior to the class. Registration closes the day prior to the scheduled class.
