YSS - Virtual Training

This training will consist of a candid discussion on how Human Trafficking operatives’ work, impact on victims, and how YSS staff serving youth can identify and respond when serving these youth. This presentation also contains statistics of trafficking trends, and video testimonials of actual victims of Human Trafficking.

Training Objectives:
YSS staff will become more aware of tactics used by traffickers to draw in and control victims
Participants will gain knowledge on what youth are “at risk” for targeting
Staff will learn signs to identify those who may have been trafficked and how to respond to someone who has disclosed they are a victim.

Ruth Buckels is has been working with “at risk” youth for over 10 years at Youth & Shelter Services. Ruth has direct care and service experience with victims of Human Trafficking. Ruth has also contributed to pieces of legislation that have strengthened awareness and protection of those who are most susceptible to risk of trafficking.

A General Certificate of Attendance will be issued to each person completing this training. No partial credit will be given for late arrivals or for those that need to leave early.

This training meets the criteria established by the Iowa Board of Social Work and the Iowa Board of Behavioral Science Examiners 2.0 CEUs are provided for this program.
