Charlie’s Story
Charlie—a young mother with a two-year-old daughter—recently enrolled in Family Development and Self-Sufficiency (FaDSS) to pursue education that would allow her to find a better job. The FaDSS program helps families move toward growth, job retention, and economic stability.
While she was working with YSS staff through this process, Charlie unexpectedly needed help obtaining stable housing.
One of our FaDSS program assistants, Aftin, provided her with the resources to find a new home. FaDSS funds also helped Charlie with basic supplies such as bedding, beds, and other furniture.
Now, Charlie and her daughter are all settled in. Thanks to YSS and FaDSS, she can once again focus on her educational goals without distraction and build a brighter future for herself and her family.
